
A decisive step towards revamping Nunku Chiefdom in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has been taken, on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, with the launching of an appeal fund to build a modern palace for the Chiefdom.
New Vision Correspondent reports that about Fifty Million Naira(N50M) was realized at the launching, organized by the Nunku Community Development Association (NCDA) which a socio-cultural organization whose aim is to promote the unity and development of all people in the Chiefdom.
The Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule who made a personal donation N10M was among dignitaries who attended the launching. Other donors included Dr. Faisal Shuaibu, a gubernatorial aspirant in the state, who donated N10M, and another aspirant, and Former Inspector General of Police who pledged N15m.
While the State Accountant General, Honourable Musa Ahmed Mohammed also a gubernatorial aspirant, donated Five Hundred Thousand Naira(N500, 000), as well as announced pledges of four and half million Naira(N4.5m) by three of his friends.
Honourable Larry Ven Bawa, Member and Chief Whip of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly donated One Million Naira (N1M). Many other personalities also donated thousands of Naira during the appeal fund launching target of Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N50M).
In his remarks at the occasion, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule expressed his delight with the renewed efforts by the NCDA towards peace and development of Chiefdom. He urged the NCDA to sustain such efforts, and emphasized the importance of the need for unity.
The governor assured that his administration will always do the needful to enhance the livelihood of every community in Nasarawa State. He also assured that the state government will equally do what is required to accord every Chiefdom is rightful place in the state.
In his welcome remarks at the occasion, the Sarkin Nunku, Malam Ibrahim Adamu Muhammad, expressed his personal appreciation and the gratitude of entire Nunku people to purposeful leadership of His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, especially the concern he has for the development of Nunku Chiefdom.
Alhaji Ibrahim who is also the Chairman of Traditional Council Akwanga-west Development Area pledged the unqualified loyalty and support of the Development Area to the state government under the administration of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.
All those who spoke during the occasion also commended the NCDA for organizing the launching. Our Correspondent reports that the launching marked the climax of activities organized to mark the Annual Nunku Day.
Highlights of the occasion include a lecture centered on unity, tolerance and love for one another. Professor Iliyasu D. Umar, a distinguished son of Nunku, from University of Abuja was the Guest Speaker.
Other highlights of the launching were variety of Mada cultural dances from other communities in the local government, as well as other tribes resident in Nunku Chiefdom.
