The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State said it is regrouping, and intensifying efforts with a view to reclaiming political power in the state, from the All Progressive Congress (APC).
It will be recalled that the PDP ruled Nasarawa State for twelve years from 1999, but lost the governorship seat in 2011, to the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), which merged later with other political parties, to form the APC.
Since the PDP has been working hard to rebuild and strengthen its presence in the state.
The PDP State chairman, Alhaji Adamu Ninga said the recent tour by the Executive Committee of the party was aimed at addressing their supporters, to correct past mistakes, and present new vision for the development of the state.
Alhaji Ninga expressed confidence in the Party’s ability to win back the state in the next election.
The development sparked interest among political analysts, who argued that for the party to achieve its ambition, it has to rebuild a strong grassroots network and articulate a compelling narratives that resonates with the electorate.
As political landscape continues to evolve, one thing is certain, the efforts of the PDP will recharge the politics of Nasarawa State, which has inclining towards a one-party state in the past 25 years. Many political observers say the success of the PDP will depend on its ability to present a credible candidate, who the electorate can see as better than the incumbent leadership, under Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.
In all places visited, the PDP Chairman of the party, expressed confidence that the party is capable of changing the political narratives in the state. He emphasized that the party is committed, and that it will work tirelessly to ensure victory in the next election.
“We have learned our lessions from our past mistakes and are determined to present a renewed vision for the development of the state.
Whatever the tour of the state by the PDP leaders means, only time shall tell.
