The turbaning ceremony of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the Magajn Dangin Lafian Bare-Bari may have impact positively in dousing political rivalry and tension, especially among the All Progressive Congress (APC) 2027 Governorship Aspirants in Nasarawa State.
It will be recalled that early this year, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Muhammad Bage conferred the traditional title on the high ranking member of the National Assembly, and a notable aspirant for the governorship seat of the state.
Presently, he is a member of Social Democratic Party(SDP). But it is being speculated that he may return to APC, the party he decamped from in 2023, and contested for the Senate, to represent Nasarawa-west Senatorial District, which he eventually won.
His turbaning on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, in Lafia by the Emir, was witnessed by a mammoth crowd, with array of personalities in the Nasarawa State, as well as the Federal Public Service in attendance.
But it was particularly, the presence of some other notable 2027 Governorship Aspirants in the State which became subject of hush-hush talks by a cross section of those who attended the ceremony.
Our reporter moved round the venue of the occasion, and overheard comments of many people, on the array of the dignitaries that came to attend the ceremony.
Most of the commentators are delighted that the presence of the other Governorship aspirants indicates a high level of understanding among them.
“This is politics without bitterness, it shows joy and love”, a middle aged man, said. And, an elderly person listening to the group, responded: “I hope this turns out to be so”.
The Governorship Aspirants who graced the colorful and historic occasion are, Dr. Faisal Shuaibu, the immidiate Executive Secretary of the National Primary Health Care Agency (NPHCA), Hon. Ahmad Mohammed, a Former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and present Accountant-General of the State, as well as Dr. Mohammed Haruna Sani, Former Executive Secretary of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructures (NASENI).
All of them, like Senator Wadada, are from Nasarawa North Senatorial District of the State, from where most political observers, and analysts think the successor to Governor Abdullahi A. Sule may emerge.
